What is Form Farm?

In the following series of weekly blog posts, we will give you the information necessary to understand what Form Farm is, where we came from, and how we can work together to elevate your practice - professionally, personally, and artistically.

Our team’s inaugural project - which was initiated in October 2023 - was in collaboration with Cape Town-based contemporary artist, Atang Tshikare. Since installing the 3m long sculpture at the Time Out Market at the V&A Waterfront, we have grown into a fully-fledged 3D printing and project development studio.

We are a small and young team utilising 20 - 25 3D printers to produce our clients desired products. Our goal is to spread access to 3D printing technology and education throughout South Africa - with the hopes of encouraging and enabling local entrepreneurship, and localising manufacturing to solve country-wide, and eventually continent-wide, challenges.

If you already have a file (generally in STL, OBJ, or 3MF format) that you would like to 3D print, then send it over to us at info@formfarm.co.za for an obligation-free quote.

If you only have an idea at this stage, then feel free to reach out to us at the same email address, and our team will help you develop it further - from conceptualisation and modelling through to prototyping and go-to-market.

One of the challenges of 3D printing is that it is possible to print nearly anything, and this can sometimes be overwhelming when deciding how best to take advantage of the technology. If you are an entrepreneur, creator, innovator, or anything else that does not fit these boxes - but would like to better understand how this disruptive technology can enable your pursuit - please reach out to us, and we will be happy to sit with you, in person or online, to talk it through.
